South Africa

Still catching up with some of last years work. The Grey Seals and Red Deer workshop images posted earlier where from early January 2013 but prior to that in November 2012 i visited Southern Africa to prepare a new photo tour over there for this year. It was a fantastic adventure with loads of wildlife wich was easily photographed close-up.
I started out on the Panoramic Route where i photographed many beautiful waterfalls and scenic points. This was the perfect way to get adjusted to African temperatures, culture and....their driving...:)-
After the Panoramic Route i drove on to just above the center of the Kruger National Park where i entered a whole new and impressive world. When i was in the park for only 2 minutes i was allready surrounded by a group of elephants wich made me feel very tiny.
It did not take me long to complete the "Big Five" and some of the other large mammals such as Hippo, Leopard, Lion, Hyena, Rhino etc etc..
But also other animals such as Warthog, Wildebeest,
Mongoose, Impala, Giraffe, Kudu and Zebra where present..
Besides all the larger wildlife i was also focussed on getting certain bird species such as Kingfishers (my favorite birds..), Bee-eaters, Hoopoo, Bustards, Weaver birds and many more..
Ofcourse there where also plenty of Birds of prey such as Bateleur Eagles, Tawny Eagles, Hawks, Kites and Vultures..
Africa is engraved in my memory and i am "hooked"...What an incredible country and an amazing wildlife! This is just a very small selection of the more then 15.000 images i shot during this trip, so if you decide to join me on the next South Africa trip then make sure you bring enough memory cards!. If you care to join me on this years South Africa Photo Tour then you are more then welcome to inform about timing, costs etc etc. Some more info can be found on my website here: http://www.jeroenstel.com/#/2/South%20Africa%20Workshop Hope to see you on our South Africa tour 2013!
